Flip up Seats to Give Kids a Comfy Ride; Flip Seats Down for More Storage
Winner of awards including the National Parenting Publications Gold Award and the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio's Gold Seal Award, the Pathfinder is smaller than the Radio Flyer's Ultimate Family Wagon, but still roomy. Two kids can ride comfortably, or one child can ride with plenty of extra room for storage. Even three smaller kids might be able to ride in this versatile wagon (but keep in mind there are only two seat belts).

The flip-up seats provide back support for the young ones, but don't recline, which would be nice for sleepy kids. The Pathfinder is made of sturdy plastic, in Radio Flyer's trademark red color. Assembling the wagon is fairly easy, but it does take a little time to get it right, and you should follow the illustrated instructions carefully.

A Classic Wagon Just Gets Better
Radio Flyer has been making wagons since 1923. Besides good, old-fashioned durability and great design, this solid wagon offers plenty of extras, including cup holders, an extra long handle, and flip-up seats. Safety features such as seat belts and non-tip turning are popular features for parents. The roominess of the Pathfinder means you can haul a lot of kids and toys, but beware, when fully loaded, it can get heavy.

WHAT IS LATENT DEMAND AND THE P.I.E.?

The concept of latent demand is rather subtle. The term latent typically refers to something that is dormant, not observable, or not yet realized. Demand is the notion of an economic quantity that a target population or market requires under different assumptions of price, quality, and distribution, among other factors. Latent demand, therefore, is commonly defined by economists as the industry earnings of a market when that market becomes accessible and attractive to serve by competing firms. It is a measure, therefore, of potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) or total revenues (not profit) if a market is served in an efficient manner. It is typically expressed as the total revenues potentially extracted by firms. The “market” is defined at a given level in the value chain. There can be latent demand at the retail level, at the wholesale level, the manufacturing level, and the raw materials level (the P.I.E. of higher levels of the value chain being always smaller than the P.I.E. of levels at lower levels of the same value chain, assuming all levels maintain minimum profitability).

The latent demand for shovels, spades, scoops, telegraph spoons, and scrapers is not actual or historic sales. Nor is latent demand future sales. In fact, latent demand can be lower either lower or higher than actual sales if a market is inefficient (i.e., not representative of relatively competitive levels). Inefficiencies arise from a number of factors, including the lack of international openness, cultural barriers to consumption, regulations, and cartel-like behavior on the part of firms. In general, however, latent demand is typically larger than actual sales in a country market.

For reasons discussed later, this report does not consider the notion of “unit quantities”, only total latent revenues (i.e., a calculation of price times quantity is never made, though one is implied). The units used in t

The Silver Spade - Last Day of Operation

The Silver Spade's last day of operation, April 9, 2006. At this point, she had an hour to live. She was digging her way out of the hole to be retired, with the possibility of becoming a museum, but it was discovered that the roller circle had broken again. A year or 2 before this, we were up on the dirt road late at night, talking with a welder who had stopped by, and he got an urgent call to go do some welding on the machine. They had welders on 24 hour call. At the end there was probably more fill metal than base metal. It was finally decided to cut her up on the spot. The machine was very quiet from this distance. Generally all you heard was the cooling fans on the cab roof, the crunch of the rocks being dug + dumped, and the double hoist cables slapping together, sounding like 2x4 lumber being stacked. When you drove by on 519 to see if they were operating, if she was stationary, you'd listen for the cooling fans. If they were running, this was a lunch or maintenance break, stick around. Note the rocks rolling down the pit wall, each is the size of a truck, weighing many tons.

Tools & Equipments Safety In Industrial Plants

!±8± Tools & Equipments Safety In Industrial Plants

Some basic causes involving tools, which lead to accidents, are:

· Defective tools like hammers, axes, screwdrivers, shovels, spades might be loose, cracked, broken. Workers can be injured if the handles loosen or break and tool head flies off.

· Using the wrong tool like using wrong kind and size of wrench. The wrench will slip if the opening is too large and fits loosely on the nut causing damage to it and injure the worker.

· Right tool, wrong method. On an adjustable wrench pressure should always be applied on fixed jaw and not on the moveable jaw. Never use a "cheater" on it. It is a length of pipe put over the wrench to increase leverage. It will cause mashed fingers or broken limbs.

· All tools should have proper maintenance. Handles and guards should be intact. Safety devices should be installed and checked regularly. Worn or deformed tools should be repaired or discarded.

· Electrical powered tools must be properly wired, insulated and grounded. All power tools like rotary blades; bits and wheels must not be cracked, out-of-round, excessively worn. Since some machines moving parts like powered saws and there is always risk of crushing or cutting of fingers and toes if not paid attention. Make sure pins and collars used on these machines are all intact.

· Pneumatic tools are operated by air pressure, some tools have arbors for mounting wheels, saw blades etc, always check to see these are securely mounted so that these cannot fly off to cause damage or injury. Always turn off and release air pressure before disconnecting air supply hose. Protect your eyes, hands and face while using these tools.

· Gasoline powered tools can cause fire and explosion hazards because of fuel flammable vapors. These tools should be refueled after they have been cooled down and in well-ventilated areas.

· Since some machines moving parts like powered saws and there is always risk of crushing or cutting of fingers and toes if not paid attention. Make sure pins and collars used on these machines are all intact.

Teaching ESL with Playing Cards

!±8± Teaching ESL with Playing Cards

The standard pack of 52 cards is thought to have been invented in Persia. The back design usually looks like a Persian carpet.

Many English speakers do not realize that a club was a soldier's symbol for war. Act out the use of the club (bonk! bonk!). The spade or shovel is a symbol of the farmer, the economic foundation of feudal society (Act out the digging. A shovel is a sap-jil in Korean). The heart symbolizes romance or love and the diamonds symbolize wealth or commerce.

Some (very few parents or bosses) object to using cards in class but I always defend this stance by saying "We do not gamble and we do not play poker. We use the cards to motivate the children and help them learn English." After that I have had no problems.

I introduce the cards by asking:

How many are there? (52 or 13 x 4)

How many colors? (2)

How many kinds or sets (4)

First Class:

In the first class I just throw down random cards and the kids call out the kind. This is challenge enough for beginners. Korean kids typically drop the s off the ends of the words and pronounce with their Konglish saying heart-uh, spade-uh, di-a-mond, club-uh. So the first game or class is a lot about re-teaching pronunciation (hard going voice coaching).

Teach them to say diamonds, hearts, clubs and spades correctly. I don't introduce the word suit. Kinds or sets is enough for ESL learners.

Next teach that the cards make a pack or deck. You can also tell them a pack is like a backpack or a wolf pack. Tell them about shuffling or mixing (be-bim in Korean) the cards.

Finally have the kids call out the Ace 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Jack Queen and King. This is easy. The Jack is a royal servant. Ace is generally not known. Most kids call it A. Teach them ace driver, ace shooter, ace golfer etc. Royal in Korean is roughly translated as yang-ban.

First Game:

The first real game I play with kids is SNAP where a kid has to say "snap" and slam down his hand on the cards as I deal them out on a pile.

They love the exciting anticipation of this game. To start just play the game and don't explain rules. When teacher shouts SNAP and slaps down his hand down on the first pair of cards the kids catch on fast.

This game is best played around a small table with the children standing. They will fight for space. If they speak Korean I kick them out for one round of cards. They find this funny.

Sometimes they kick me out for speaking Korean. They find this even funnier!

Second Game:

We sometimes play the Go Fish game with regular playing cards. It involves short dialogue like this: "Do you have an Ace? No, go fish." If readers do not know the Go Fish game then do a search on internet or ask another teacher. It is very useful.

Older Kids:

I do play poker or 21s (Blackjack) with older kids/adults but we use my token coins and these are returned to me at the end of the class (thus not gambling). Kids learn: betting, cheating, cheater, bluffing, bluffer, the kitty, close, fold or out, hit me, bust, I'm out, I'm the winner. All of this is common English, just like many sporting terms, and kids need it to fully understand the language.

Cards are a wonderful way to motivate students and teach English. They don't even think it as class work. The fascination with card games is that they involve mental math, chance, skill, social interaction and sometimes cheating or bluffing. They combine these things and have the appeal of interactive computer games. Young kids are amazed and shocked that teacher cheats sometimes. Hee hee, :o). You will be surprised at their indignation.

How To Keep Your Tools Sharp - Handyman Guide

!±8± How To Keep Your Tools Sharp - Handyman Guide

Sharpening instruments are among the most important tools in your workshop because they make all your other tools work better.

SHARPENING STONE

These come as natural quarried stones, or as specially made abrasive stones designed for different purposes. Sharpening stones should be treated with a light, free flowing oil to float away fine steel particles and prevent them clogging the stone, and to provide a faster, cleaner sharpening action. The stone should be kept clean and moist and given a light coating of oil before use. A new stone should be soaked in oil for a few days before use. Keep in a box with a closed cover and a few drops of fresh clean oil left on the stone. Coarse grained natural stones should be used with plenty of water. Medium and fine rained natural stones require oil because water is not thick enough to keep steel particles out of the pores of the stone.

Choose the right stone for the job.

SHARPENING VARIOUS TOOLS

Screwdriver - use a combination stone (one with coarse and fine faces). Keep the two faces of the blade parallel and carefully shape the bottom of the blade square.

Chisels - woodworking chisels require a fine, long lasting cutting edge, which must be square. Use a combination stone, starting with the coarse side to quickly develop the desired edge bevel then finish with the fine side. Always move chisel back and forwards in a figure eight pattern utilizing all of the stone. This will ensure that you don't wear a "hollow" into the stone.

Axe - use a special axe stone to give the edges of the axe a bevel, continuing the oval form of the blade. Lay the axe flat on the edge of a bench and move the sharpening stone in a circular motion from end to end of the blade. Turn the axe over frequently while sharpening.

Garden shears - sharpen on a medium stone, stroking the edge bevel from point to heel. Turn over and repeat on the other blade.

Carving knife - use a long butchers style sharpening steel with long strokes, swinging the blade from the hilt of the steel to the tip in curving movements, alternating both sides of the blade.

Kitchen knife - use a circular motion on both edges of the blade. Use a special kitchen sharpener.

Scissors - use a combination stone placed near the edge of a flat surface so one blade hangs clear. Grasp near the middle and place cutting edge on stone at a slight diagonal. Tip blade towards the bevel. Draw the cutting edge against the stone diagonally the length of the stone start with coarse then use fine edge stone.

FILES

Files are used for shaping and smoothing metal. When filing, grasp the handle in one hand and the tip in the other. Since the file cuts as it moves forward, lift it slightly on the back stroke to preserve the teeth. File with the whole length of the file. File spades, shovels and hoes using a diagonal motion against the edge bevel until enough metal is removed from the blunt edge so the tool will dig into the earth with minimum effort. Rotary lawn Mower blades can also be filed to remove nicks and restore the original bevel. To file, remove the blade and grip in a vice. Clippers and shears can have the edge restored by stroking the file forward along the blade, going from the heel all the way to the tip.

Saw blades require special tools to sharpen each tooth individually. Other tools set the file at the precise angle for sharpening and a tool called a Saw set bends the teeth back to the correct angle after filing. These are the only tools which should be used to sharpen a saw.

GRINDING WHEELS

A hand operated grinding wheel is satisfactory but ideally you need someone to work for you as tools should be held in both hands. The wheel should turn towards the tool, and tool should be held steady and squarely on to the wheel. If the tool is held at a slant, the stone will wear unevenly on one side.A grinding wheel is useful for jobs such as restoring a very dull chisel. Hold it against the wheel until square then hold the beveled edge at a 30 degree angle to the wheel, moving the tool from side to side until you have an even 30 degree bevel with a burr on the flat side. Dip the tool in cold water as you work to prevent the blade overheating.

THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX: FIRST OFFICIAL MOVIE TRAILER 720p (HD)

The story is about a fox named Mr Fox (George Clooney). At night, he steals chickens, ducks, and turkeys from three mean, stinky and wealthy farmers — Boggis, Bunce and Bean — to feed his family. The farmers are fed up with this and try everything to kill him. One night they wait outside his foxhole in an attempt to ambush him. When Mr Fox emerges from his home, they fire at him but only succeed in blowing off his tail. Determined to catch him, the farmers use spades and shovels to dig their way into the foxes' home, but Mr and Mrs Fox (Meryl Streep) and their four children dig a tunnel deeper into the ground and manage to escape. The farmers even resort to using bulldozers in order to dig deeper into the ground, but to no avail. The three men therefore decide to play a waiting game, keeping watch on the entrance to the tunnel with shotguns at the ready, while their men patrol the area to make sure the foxes don't escape. After three days of starving, Mr Fox comes up with a plan. He and his children dig further on and end up in Boggis' number one chicken house. There they steal some chickens and depart without leaving any sign of their presence there. They also raid Bunce's storehouse of ducks, geese and vegetables and Bean's underground cellar of apple cider. Along the way they meet Badger (Bill Murray) and other digging animals who are also starving due to the farmers' siege of the hillside. Mr Fox, feeling responsible for the whole affair, invites the other animals to ...

Garden Sheds for Small, Medium and Large Storage Options

!±8± Garden Sheds for Small, Medium and Large Storage Options

There an extensive range of garden sheds on the market and there are also a range of construction options which may affect the durability of the sheds. This in turn affects the decision you make on choosing the right garden sheds for your garden storage. For example storing the garden broom and children's garden toys is very much different to storing your bicycles or even motorbikes. Each garden storage item requires a different level of construction and size so it is simple and reliable to store in your chosen garden shed.

Garden Storage for your smaller garden items

Smaller garden items may include spades, shovels, garden gloves, watering cans and children's toys. There are different garden storage options for these with the most obvious being any small shed. Generally overlap sheds are suitable for storing these items and equipment as they do not weigh too much and do not need the extra support like larger storage items. You are also able to purchase a smaller shed depending on the number of children's toys!!!!! We know how much of a collection they can create!! A 4 x 4 shed would be a suitable option and you can purchase these cost effectively on the web. There are also metal garden sheds to store all your garden equipment which can be just as effective as wooden sheds. It is simply a preference as to which designs you prefer. There is a long running debate with metal sheds and wooden sheds. The main difference between these is that metal sheds do not come with a floor and can be placed straight on to a base although they do not need seasonal maintenance like wooden sheds do. It is argued that wooden sheds are most popular but metal sheds have been increasing in popularity in recent times. There are other storage sheds which include garden storage chests which can be bought in both wooden and plastic material. There are also drawers for smaller items such as tools if you are looking for specific storage and cabinets that are ideal for offices. Plastic garden sheds can be utilised both indoors and outdoors like the metal rollers which are unique and ideal storage space savers.

Garden sheds able to store your medium garden items

I would class medium garden items and equipment as bicycles, lawn mowers, compost bins and other similar sized pieces of garden equipment. With these items there is a larger importance in the framework and all round strength and stability of the shed. It is important to ensure that the shed will be able to hold the weight of these items especially with floor being one of the main concerns. Whereas an overlap garden shed would have suited storing smaller garden items and equipment a tongue and groove or shiplap cladding is more likely to fit the bill. Although tongue and groove and shiplap claddings are more expensive it is worthwhile investing in these as they are more likely to increase the longevity of your garden shed. There are specific bike sheds and mower sheds which are specifically suited to storing these garden items. Your best options after these if you are maybe looking to store more items so need larger sized sheds would be to view the range of metal and wooden options within the market. As I said in a previous paragraph the differences in these will make your choice as to which one you prefer.

Garden sheds able to store large garden items and equipment.

Larger garden items include motorbikes and if you're lucky enough other large mortised vehicles, maybe you have a quad bike. For these items and equipment it is imperative that the shed you buy is not only strong but highly secure. A recommendation for this would be shiplap or even a Baltic pine and purchasing a small log cabin storage area. Log Cabin pine starts at 28mm thick and is exceptionally robust. The perfect answer to storing large items and equipment like a motorbike. Garden sheds and storage raise many questions but there is always an answer so it is simply searching to find the right shed that suits you and what you are looking to store.

The World Market for Agricultural or Horticultural Hand Tools Including Spades, Shovels, Mattocks, Picks, Hoes, Forks, Rakes, Axes, Bill Hooks, Pruners, ... and Sickles: A 2011 Global Trade Perspective

!±8± The World Market for Agricultural or Horticultural Hand Tools Including Spades, Shovels, Mattocks, Picks, Hoes, Forks, Rakes, Axes, Bill Hooks, Pruners, ... and Sickles: A 2011 Global Trade Perspective

Brand : | Rate : | Price : $595.00
Post Date : Oct 09, 2011 13:21:22 | Usually ships in 24 hours

This report was created for strategic planners, international executives and import/export managers who are concerned with the market for agricultural or horticultural hand tools including spades, shovels, mattocks, picks, hoes, forks, rakes, axes, bill hooks, pruners, scythes, and sickles. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics that appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for agricultural or horticultural hand tools including spades, shovels, mattocks, picks, hoes, forks, rakes, axes, bill hooks, pruners, scythes, and sickles for those countries serving the world market via exports or supplying from various countries via imports. I do so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models.

On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners approaching the world market face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying agricultural or horticultural hand tools including spades, shovels, mattocks, picks, hoes, forks, rakes, axes, bill hooks, pruners, scythes, and sickles? What is the dollar value of these imports? How much do the imports of agricultural or horticultural hand tools including spades, shovels, mattocks, picks, hoes, forks, rakes, axes, bill hooks, pruners, scythes, and sickles vary from one country to another? Do exporters serving the world market have similar market shares across the importing countries? Which countries supply the most exports of agricultural or horticultural hand tools including spades, shovels, mattocks, picks, hoes, forks, rakes, axes, bill hooks, pruners, scythes, and sickles? Which countries are buying their exports? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers?
